Lucky Mkosana
Originating from a small town, Plumtree, Zimbabwe, with the courage and support from his friends and family, Lucky started playing soccer at the age of five. He was scouted by Jeff Cook (then Dartmouth College soccer coach) in 2007 in a two-day soccer showcase in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Lucky was one of the two players to be selected from the showcase, in a pool consisting of forty-four players. The showcase earned him an opportunity to study and play soccer in the United States (Kimball Union Academy & Dartmouth College).
Lucky played college soccer at Dartmouth College, where Lucky is the all-time leading scorer and was drafted 23rd overall by the Chicago Fire in the 2012 MLS Draft.
After spending three years in New York where he won two National American Soccer League titles with the iconic New York Cosmos, Lucky currently plays for the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Lucky has also played for IFK Mariehamn in Finland, Penn FC, and Louisville City FC.
Lucky is the founder of BYS Academy (Bridging Youth through Soccer) a soccer academy that gives underprivileged players a platform to shine in sport and education. Being a Rush Changes Lives Ambassador will give him an opportunity to give back and positively impact lives in Africa through sport and education.
